Events, dates, and more!

Story on the moment!
"Yesterday was a bittersweet day for me. By beautiful 15 year old SPCA special dog Pantouf became very ill. It was painful and sad to see her so uncomfortable so I meditated and asked for guidance. And it came. I was told to reach out to friends and ask them to send healing energy to her. I was told to massage her, tell her how much I loved her, to hand-feed her and to get the pain relief she needed. She settled, she slept and awoke very much herself. The moment, if I listen, brings so much to my life, answers, guidance, relief from suffering. It is the only place I want to be and my sweet dog was the one to remind me again, how precious, the moment! What a perfect gift, an oppurtunity, to grow in the moment!

Sing YOUR Song!

Sing Your Song

Sing, sing your song,
Sing out loud, sing out strong,
Sing of the good things, not bad,
Sing of the happy, not sad . . .

Sing, sing a song,
Make it simple, to last your whole life long,
Don't worry that it's not good enough,
For anyone else to hear,
Sing, sing a song . . .

Okay, I am being nostalgic again, but although cheesy the thought behind the song is elation for me, pure elation. . I remember sitting at the kitchen table when I was little, singing this little ditty while sipping a hot cocoa, dangling and swaying my feet to the music and just thinking nothing was as grand as that moment, sipping my hot drink, tasting it fully and completely and belting that tune, being oh so glad to be alive. I thought to myself “I can do anything because I have a voice and I am me!”

Now, when I need to inspire myself to believe that « I can do anything » I will close my eyes, visualise that little girl, that song and the feeling that goes along with it and FEEL it, for a good few minutes before I set out to accomplish the task at hand. And how about you, can you think of a song that you can really connect with in this positive way that has some value that you can use to motivate you to get what you want? If you don’t why don’t you join me tonight and create your own? It’s cold outside, so come on over to 54 Lily and warm yourself up with the wonderful feeling of Vocal Meditation. It only takes once to fall in love with Your voice connects you to your intuition, your emotions, and your inner world! Just imagine what you can discover in your inner sanctum! Have a great week!

I leave you to linger on this thought:

"There is guidance for each of us, and by lowly listening; we shall hear the right word. Certainly there is a right for you that needs no choice on your part. Place yourself in the middle of the stream of power and wisdom which flows into your life. Then, without effort, you are impelled to truth and to perfect contentment." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Singing my song: Part 2

I discovered as I was meditating during the "Singing Your Song" Process of last week's Vocal Meditation what I wanted more of to be more my authentic self. (See last week's blog). The words "Looking after yourself" kept popping up. After the VM I pondered on what that meant to me and if I was truly living it. I discovered that indeed I was not! I was very busy looking after everybody else's needs and not spending enough time on what I needed. Typical for this farm-girl from Manitoba!

Two areas that I needed to work on came up. The words "Spending more time with friends" and "Laughing" came up. So in that moment, I committed to myself in very small steps (like for the rest of that evening- to be re-examined and re-assessed the next day) to connect with someone that meant alot to me and to watch at least two "Têtes à claques" to please the little girl inside of me.

So I am proud to say that as a result I went bowling with friends, spent quality time with my husband, laughed at those silly Têtes à claques daily and gave myself a good dose of well-deserved joy in the process. What 30 minutes of looking inward gave to me was an oppurtunity to improve myself, to make my life richer which in turn had a positive effect on those around me!

So I invite you tommorrow night at 7 p.m. to come and open yourself up during the Vocal Meditation: to hear yourself through your own voice, to express yourself and be more yourself, all while listening to what your intuition tells you you need more of to be true to you!

If you are unable to attend (especially those who live a distance away) I invite to ask "How can I be more myself" and then take that time to listen to your singing voice (sing whatever syllables that come out) fully and completely in a quiet space, and notice what messages your voice sends to you. You will be amazed at what active listening can reveal, if you are aware and present.

We have added a background music (sometimes drumming sometimes just chords) to inspire you even further to "Sing Your Song" during the meditation.

Till tommorrow night then! I set the intention now that all of you out there (myself included) will get to know yourselves at a deeper level in order to truly live a more fulfilling life.

Namaste my friends and remember "Listen to Yourself, You know what's best for you!"

Are you singing your own special song today?

Do you recall the song « Make Your Own Kind of Music » Mama Cass sang that played so very often on the radio some thirty years ago? If not, and for those who are far too young to remember, let me take you back in time:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEQxEJ5_5zA&feature=relatedMake your own kind of music,

Nobody can tell ya; there’s only one song worth singin'.They may try and sell ya,'cause it hangs them upto see someone like you.But you've gotta make your own kind of musicsing your own special song, make your own kind of music even if nobodyelse sing along. So if you cannot take my hand, and if you must be goin',I will understand. You're gonna be knowingthe loneliest kind of lonely. It may be rough goin',just to do your thing'sthe hardest thing to do.ChorusSo if you cannot take my hand, and if you must be goin',I will understand.Chorus

She sings wisdom that thirty years later still rings true. The song challenges us to be authentic, to show our true selves even it means other people are uncomfortable with it. Are you ready to meet that challenge to shed layers and truly be yourselves?

Don’t know where to begin? Begin, right here, right now by imagining who that person is that is singing. What does that person look like, act like, and sound like? Then come and express your authenticity with me tonight and every Wednesday night during a Vocal Meditation evening entitled « Sing your song » It’s to LIVE FOR!

Challenge for Change
As I was meditating this morning, I was reflecting on my routine. I have just returned to Fredericton and I dared to ask myself, "What would make my life better this Fall?" "What little step could I take to have even more pleasure in my life?" For me, the answer was "Spend more time with people in a non-work context". It brought me to ponder further on what steps I could take to spend more time with people and just have fun." I decided to join Thursday Night Volleyball at the local centre to get some more exercise and socialise Then I asked myself "How could I keep that committment?" I then decided to connect to the feeling I have when I am laughing and having fun with friends. I could feel a tickling feeling in my heart centre. Wouldn't it be nice to have more of that? Of course it would, so I decided that every time that "I am too tired, I have too much work to do" voice started discouraging me, I would commit to that feeling of having fun with my friends. I also decided that I would ask a good friend of mine to join me and to encourage me to go to help me stay motivated.

So there you have it, my Fall plan to change one thing in my life to have MORE PLEASURE! How about giving yourself a challenge for change this Fall to get a little bit more of what you want in your life. From that tickly feeling I am getting just thinking about my volleyball night, it is well worth the effort! Write me and tell me how it went, I sure will keep you posted! Baby steps to change, it is the best way go get what you really want!

Have a great week and remember this quote from Alan Cohen

"It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power."

Please note that I will be away on a course from the 17th to the 21st of September. As always I will come back with new ideas on how to keep helping you move forward in health and wellness in your life!

What GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND

Parents, hang in there, everything you do for your children comes back tenfold! Let me give you a concrete example. I divorced when my children were four and six years old. As a single mom, I sought out raising my sons on my own in the best way I could. I knew I needed my community's support as well so I found Big Brothers and Big Sisters a great option for them. Stephane, my youngest was pared up with a wonderful man who was a biologist that specialized in alternative energy. This kind-hearted man shared wonderful experiences with my son, his experiments, bike rides and hikes, books, all the activities that my son loved, but my son did everything he could to reject his kindness, because he held alot of anger that needed releasing because he missed his dad. His Big Brother continued to be kind and patient, despite Stephane's behaviour. I encouraged Stephane to keep going on the outings, because deep inside I knew Stephane needed this relationship.

My son is now twenty-two and attending university in British Columbia. He phoned the other day and asked to speak with my husband because he needed a male reference to be a volunteer. Michel agreed and Stephane asked to speak with me. When asked what he was doing he told me he wanted to be a Big Brother. I asked him why and promptly said he wanted to give back to Big Brothers because he really appreciated his experience with Big Brothers and wanted to give back, especially because he had been such a hard ticket with his BB. Although very trying at the time, my instinct was right, he had appreciated the experience! I told him that I was really proud of him and he said to me " Oh no Mom, I am really proud of you!"

The time you invest as a parent has the GREATEST RETURN, but sometimes it takes a little time to receive the REWARDS! It took me twelve years to enjoy the results of the effort I put in to helping my son become the wonderful person he is today, but BOY IT WAS WORTH IT! So parents HANG IN THERE, your time will come!

And finally everyone needs a little inspiration! http://www.thejoymovie.com

Have a week FULL of ELATION!
