Are you singing your own special song today?

Do you recall the song « Make Your Own Kind of Music » Mama Cass sang that played so very often on the radio some thirty years ago? If not, and for those who are far too young to remember, let me take you back in time:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEQxEJ5_5zA&feature=relatedMake your own kind of music,

Nobody can tell ya; there’s only one song worth singin'.They may try and sell ya,'cause it hangs them upto see someone like you.But you've gotta make your own kind of musicsing your own special song, make your own kind of music even if nobodyelse sing along. So if you cannot take my hand, and if you must be goin',I will understand. You're gonna be knowingthe loneliest kind of lonely. It may be rough goin',just to do your thing'sthe hardest thing to do.ChorusSo if you cannot take my hand, and if you must be goin',I will understand.Chorus

She sings wisdom that thirty years later still rings true. The song challenges us to be authentic, to show our true selves even it means other people are uncomfortable with it. Are you ready to meet that challenge to shed layers and truly be yourselves?

Don’t know where to begin? Begin, right here, right now by imagining who that person is that is singing. What does that person look like, act like, and sound like? Then come and express your authenticity with me tonight and every Wednesday night during a Vocal Meditation evening entitled « Sing your song » It’s to LIVE FOR!
